Love will always find a way…this one was proudly South African!

Robertson, South Africa (04 May 2026) – One of the most heart-warming kinds of stories we often cover is how South African pet owners will show up for their beloved four-leggeds.

When there’s an animal in need, we’ll walk, run, or even swim if it means getting them the help they need. When circumstances are tough, we’ll always make a plan, no matter the challenge.

Animal welfare clinics see it often. When the time comes for vaccinations, sterilisation, or specialised care, pet owners arrive with wheelbarrows, makeshift carriers, or with their four-legged beloveds over their shoulders.

Over the weekend, the John Moore Animal Welfare Foundation – a community veterinary clinic offering sterilisation and veterinary care in Robertson and surrounds – saw love show up in the most South African manner possible!

Rocky and Coco, two dogs, arrived at the clinic for vaccinations, wrapped up cosily and fastened to their owner’s back.

“Rocky & Coco didn’t arrive in a fancy car… they came the real South African way. Wrapped up safe and warm in a blanket, carried on their owner’s back, just to make sure they got to our clinic for their vaccinations. This is what love looks like. This is what responsible pet care looks like.” the clinic shared online.

“To Rocky & Coco’s owner — we see you, and we appreciate you. You’re making a difference.
Let’s keep showing up for our animals, no matter what it takes”

We love to see it. Despite the challenges and hardships faced, we’re a nation of animal lovers who always go the extra mile. Compassion wins again!
