“If you smile, Thro’ your fear and sorrow, Smile and maybe tomorrow, You’ll see the sun come shin-ing thro’ for you” – Charlie Chaplin.
South Africa (05 June 2020) – Now more than ever, we need reasons to smile, and the Drakensberg Boys Chamber Choir are giving us all a reason to. The boys’ choir recently performed a stunning rendition of Charlie Chaplin’s “Smile”, performed in A Cappella!
Each of the choir members recorded themselves singing the song, and then the sound clips and video were merged and harmonised to make the beautiful video. Each boy loves to sing, and even though they are stuck at home, they continue to inspire with their performances.
“The Drakensberg Boys Chamber Choir recently released a beautiful a cappella version of the classic ‘Smile’, by Charlie Chaplin, arranged by Ben Bram. This is the second song which was produced in its entirety during our national lockdown with the boys at their homes. We thought this song perfectly captures the spirit of our human response to the pandemic, full of melancholy, yet extremely hopeful and positive. “There’s a time, you can keep on trying; smile, what’s the use of crying…”
The song really helps you see things differently. Even singing along with the boys, we feel even more hopeful. So go ahead, light up your face with gladness!
