Ollie Aadnesgaard, a cattle agent in the Midlands of KwaZulu-Natal, shared details of an upcoming market and the video has gone viral because he did the entire video in isiZulu.

Midlands, South Africa (13 February 2023) – KwaZulu-Natal is the home of the Zulu nation and isiZulu, is South Africa’s most-spoken language with over 25% of the population speaking it at home and in day-to-day life (Statista 2018). It then only makes sense to conduct business within the language of one’s largest demographic.

Ollie Aadnesgard from AAM Livestock Agents recently created a TikTok account to connect with potential clients based in KwaZulu-Natal. To make sure his advertising was inclusive to all his clients, he shared updates about an upcoming market, in isiZulu – a language he is fluent in.

What was meant to just be an informational video has since gone viral with thousands of South Africans, mostly isiZulu speakers, praising Ollie for his efforts to make sure he used more than one official South African language.

Ollie never expected the video to do so well and aside from the thousands of comments, the video has also been viewed over 690,000 times just this weekend.

In a country where we have eleven official languages, it is great to see inclusive posts like this.
