Cockatoo

Somewhere in South Africa, a Cockatoo is barking along with his dog friends, working hard to deter any criminals from entering the property.

South Africa – Only in South Africa will you find a guard bird. Well, perhaps not only in South Africa but we can’t get enough of this barking Cockatoo.

Cockatoos are highly intelligent birds with prominent personalities and the ability to mimic several sounds. They can live between 25 and 60 years, depending on their care routine. They originate from Australia, New Zealand, and New Guinea. They are also found in Indonesia and the Solomon Islands.

They are among the most affectionate parrots in their species and form strong close bonds with their humans. They can get depressed if they do not get enough attention and affection.

While a Cockatoo may seem like a sweet and loving bird, they can also be very loud. One should be aware of this fact before thinking of one as a pet. Their screams do stand out, so it isn’t a sound that can become background noise like dogs barking.

Thankfully, on such Cockatoo learned to use its vocal power for a good cause… protecting its home and owners. The intelligent bird picked up the skill of barking like a dog. Having many dogs to learn from, the funny bird even picked up the mannerisms of barking like a dog.

Now the bird heads out with the pack to get its kicks off. The sight it quite comical and we almost weren’t sure what we were watching. It just looked like a pack of dogs barking at a gate. That is until the owner gets closer and you realise a Cockatoo is barking along with them.

Take a look at the intelligent bird below. Let us know if any of your avian pets do funny things in the comment section.
