behind the curtain splash water saving mascot

Third time lucky for the Cape Town Water Saving Mascot?

Cape Town has revealed another water saving mascot (we’ll call this one version 3) and it’s gone from super creepy to super high!

The original mascot for saving water in Cape Town was revealed a few months ago but instead of a round of applause, his reveal was met with sheer terror… which reverberated around the world.

The concept of Splash was meant to be a friendly face but thanks to a bad design job, his face comes across as incredibly creepy. That inspired the idea of the mascot being introduced to scare people into saving.

Massive International news publications like the Daily Mail and Mashable reported on how scary the new water saving Mascot looked.

But luckily we have another upgrade!

Capetonian one–liner comedian, Yaaseen Barnes, a local comedian, shared pictures of the new mascot which has got social media buzzing.

Barnes regularly features on The Daily Noise on the Nigel Pierce Show on GoodHope FM and is also a contributor to ZANews. He runs an open mic night at The Armchair Theatre on Wednesday nights for first time comedy enthusiasts and for older comics to try new material.

We haven’t seen any other posts about this new Mascot, and are not quite sure if the pictures in the tweet are from Cape town but… if this is the new Mascot, then it does leave one very serious question.

Where is the old one? What have they done with the creepy version 1? Or is Splash just sitting somewhere, empty and alone. In a warehouse… waiting?!?
