Volunteers from One Small Act of Kindness treated the men at Windsor Shelter to a home-cooked meal and beautifully baked cakes, turning an ordinary day into one filled with warmth and dignity.

Johannesburg, South Africa (07 August 2026) – As South Africans prepare to celebrate Women’s Day this weekend, a group of women chose to mark the occasion with a heartfelt act of kindness.

Volunteers from One Small Act of Kindness spent the day preparing and serving a home-cooked meal for the men at Windsor Shelter, creating a warm space where every guest felt seen, cared for and valued. The thoughtful afternoon didn’t end there.

The meal was followed by beautifully baked cakes, generously donated by Oh My Cake, adding a sweet surprise that made the celebration even more memorable.

The organisation says the day was about more than simply serving food, but more about showing compassion, spreading hope and reminding people that small gestures can have a lasting impact.

As the country marks Women’s Day, One Small Act of Kindness also paid tribute to the women who give their time, energy and love to uplift others every day.
