After an incredible career inspiring thousands of South African girls and women to lace up their trail shoes, ultramarathon runner Landie Greyling is closing the chapter with gratitude.

Cape Town, South Africa (18 January 2026) – Trail running has taken Landie around the world. She’s got three World Championships under her belt. Now, after 15 years, the ultramarathon runner is hanging up her running shoes.

“After 15 years of chasing finish lines and ridgelines, I ran my final professional race on 18 October 2025 at the Cape Town Trail Marathon, the cherry on top was a win. Closing this chapter at home, strong and grateful, felt just right,” shared Greyling, announcing her exit from trail running.

The Cape Town Trail Marathon in October last year was her final run, which ended on an incredible note as she claimed gold, ahead of runners-up Maryke Van Zyl and Nadia Booyens.

“But more than results, it gave me resilience, patience, lifelong friendships, and deep respect for nature.”

Landie’s turning the page this year, swapping trails for numbers as she dusts off her CA and Masters degree in Tax. It’s also a year for family for the mom-of-two and her husband, fellow ultramarathon runner, Christiaan Greyling.

“I’m stepping away from professional racing, not from the life it gave me. The trails, movement, and healthy living will always be part of who I am, now with more variety, new skills to learn, and little feet joining the journey,” shares Landie.
