Feel Good

A list of little things to make you feel a little less backed up in your body, just in case you need it.

South Africa (16 October 2025) – If you’re reading this, there’s a good chance you don’t feel like a hundred bucks at the moment. You might be battling with year-end fatigue (yes, it’s a real thing), or perhaps you’re crawling back up after an illness or a personal knock.

Whatever the reason, it’s okay. It’s all up to you to ‘pay the rent’ and make your body feel better. That doesn’t have to look like a hectic gym sesh or running a 5km. We know your tired is tired.

There are littler things you can do right now to feel better. Here’s 5 of them:

Detach from your desk

Most of us sit for long stretches every single day, and it shows.

Blink slowly if you’re part of the Stiff Backs and Tight Hips club.

Was that the first slow blink you did today? That’s a sign you’re too locked in. Sitting for hours can lead to poor circulation (less oxygen pumping through your veins), and your muscles switch off too, which causes stiffness. Plus, a long list of other serious complications if you do it every day without much movement.

Breaking away from your desk every hour or so, even if it’s only to grab a snack, stretch, or chat to the nearest human, will help you feel stronger in your bod.

Scoop up some sunshine

We forget sometimes that sunlight really is one of the greatest pleasures. When’s the last time you intentionally got up to grab some sun?

A lack of vitamin D, which your body gets from sunlight, can make you feel flat and lower your immune system.

Spending a few minutes outside every day tops up those levels. Plus, it boosts your ‘happy hormones’ and helps keep your body clock functioning so you’ll have a lekker snooze and feel better in the morning when you wake up.

This one needs no introduction

Why do we even have to say it? Because people forget.

Hours might go by without your body getting even a single drop of water. A mild case of dehydration can give you gripes with headaches and brain fog. When you’re properly hydrated, your body regulates your temperature, digests food, and moves nutrients around effectively.

So, no mimosas on Fridays if you don’t drink your water throughout the week. Make it a rule and stick to it.

Move around in any silly way you want

Not all of us are clocking 10,000 steps a day. But your body really does suffer when it stays still too long. The truth is that ANY kind of movement helps. Do the snake on your office floor, stretch at your desk, start a mosh pit, take the stairs, or sneak in a quick swim. Now’s the perfect time of year for it.

It doesn’t matter what it looks like, you’ll feel the difference almost immediately after you start moving.

Ommmmmmmm

Meditation is not mumbo jumbo, it leads to good things.

Your body gets tense when your thoughts are running a marathon a minute. Struggle to find your ‘off’ button? Making space to just sit and breathe can help pull you out autopilot and calm your nervous system. Just five minutes can leave you feeling less locked up. The next time you meditate, pay attention to how tense your body is before vs after.

Rinse and repeat this little checklist as needed and take care of yourself, friends.
