Six pink bins filled! Clearing out your wardrobe can create vital care for hospice patients with life-limiting illness.
Gauteng, South Africa (17 June 2026) – A lovely story of community spirit from Alberton!
Stepping Stone Hospice has shared a heartfelt thank you after an incredible donation drive by Micaela and Jareed from Thrive Church’s Edenvale and Boksburg campuses.
The pair collected enough preloved clothing to completely fill six of the hospice’s pink donation bins!
The clothes will hit the racks at the hospice’s charity shop, where each sale helps raise funds for the vital work Stepping Stone Hospice does, providing specialist palliative care and support to patients and families facing life-threatening illnesses.
“When you drop off a bag of preloved clothes, you’re not just clearing out your cupboard, you’re helping us provide compassionate care to patients and families who need it most.” the hospice shares.
The hospice says its charity shop relies heavily on donations of clothing, books, toys, furniture and household goods to help fund its services.
Last year alone, the team cared for nearly 300 patients in its inpatient unit, supported more than 1000 people needing ongoing care, and carried out over 600 home visits. The charity shop creates monetary support for this essential care.
If you’ve got items around the house that you no longer need, Stepping Stone Hospice would love to give them a second life while helping local families in need. Donors can drop items off or arrange for collection by contacting the hospice directly.
And if you’d like to learn more about the hospice’s work, they’re hosting a special event on the 25th of June to celebrate two years of their Children’s Unit and launch their new Brick by Brick Building Campaign!
A huge well done to Micaela, Jareed and the Thrive Church community for making such a meaningful difference.
“…We are largely dependent on the kindness and generosity of people just like Micaela, Jareed, and the incredible Thrive Church community.”
