Reach for a Dream took sweet little Simone on a magical day where she got to explore the world of veterinary medicine and play with furry friends.
Cape Town, South Africa (08 September 2024) – A bright-eyed 9-year-old girl, Simone’s deep-seated dream of becoming a veterinarian with a bustling pet shop teeming with furry friends was brought to life thanks to Reach for a Dream.
On a magical day, Simone was showered with gifts, including a teddy and beanie, as well as experiences that brought her closer to her aspirations.
Overwhelmed with joy, she hugged the teddy tightly and slipped on the beanie, looking adorable.
The Reach for a Dream team took Simone on her first adventure at The Animal Hospital and Vetshop.
“Upon arrival, Ronel welcomed Simone and presented her with a vet scrub top and her very own stethoscope. Guided by Dr Cilliers Louw, they first explored the consultation room. Her curiosity blossomed as she learned about healthy and unhealthy dog teeth, eagerly asking questions and soaking up every detail.,” the organisation said.
Sweet Simone’s highlight was visiting the cat ward and then the dog ward, where she used her stethoscope to listen to a dog’s heartbeat, feeling every bit the real vet she aspired to be.
“Her enthusiasm was palpable, with each new experience met with excited declarations of “That is so cool!” The pinnacle of her day was in the operating room, where she received a name badge that read ‘Future Vet’.”
The day culminated in a shopping spree at Toys R Us, a fitting end to a truly unforgettable experience that ignited Simone’s passion for veterinary medicine.
As the day wound down, Simone, pushing her cart filled with toys, exclaimed:
“This is the best day ever!”
Her dream day was a magical blend of dreams coming true, filled with love, joy, and unforgettable moments!
