Alison Norton isn’t just a Lonehill resident; she’s a decades-long champion of the neighbourhood. Since 1992, her daily runs haven’t just been for fitness, but a dedicated act of community service.

Lonehill, South Africa (22 October 2025) – A tidy town, a pristine suburb, or neat public spaces are the simple yet significant things appreciated by just about any responsible resident.

However, the reality is that the beauty and upkeep of our spaces require everyone to play their part in one way or another. This could involve anything from disposing of waste correctly to engaging in more proactive initiatives, such as cleanup campaigns or revitalisation projects.

For long-time Lonehill resident, Alison Norton, it looks like wearing disposable gloves and collecting litter during her daily run.

A member of the Lonehill Residents Association recently spotted her quietly playing her part to control the bits of irresponsibly discarded waste scattered in the vibrant residential area.

During her runs, Alison places the rubbish in nearby bins as a simple but powerful act of care for the neighbourhood.

“Alison has lived in Lonehill since 1992 and believes that each of us has a role to play in keeping our suburb clean and beautiful,” the Lonehill Residents Association member shared after a brief chat with the dedicated resident.

A clean, safe and welcoming community doesn’t just happen, and Alison’s message to the community is simple:

“Let’s all do our bit. When you’re out walking, jogging or running errands, take a moment to pick up litter where you can, and encourage others to do the same.”

The Association, which is dedicated to maintaining and enhancing Lonehill’s green public spaces, celebrated and expressed its immense gratitude to Alison for setting such a great example.

“Your small daily actions make a big difference and truly reflect the spirit of Lonehill.”

Each of us has the power to make a meaningful difference. When we choose to act, we can transform our surroundings into spaces that uplift – thank you for reminding us of this inspiring truth, Alison!
