South African chef Greg Swift brings the flavours of Durban curry and Bunny Chows to the UK, blending family and culture into every dish he serves.
Brighton, United Kingdom (24 October 2025) – South African flavours are making their mark in the UK, thanks to Greg Swift, a Durban-born chef whose heart beats for two things: family and food. A full-time single parent, Greg calls his son both his best friend and his little champion.
“Life is non-stop and consumes me, but I wouldn’t change it for the world,” he says. “He’s my little champion, and I’m his biggest fan.”
Greg’s journey from Durban to the UK began over 25 years ago, taking him from working on the expansion of Nando’s across South East London to launching his own culinary ventures. Through it all, his roots have never wavered. Today, he’s sharing that passion through Bunny UK, a culinary venture bringing authentic Durban Bunny Chows to British homes and kitchens.
“You really cannot beat a great Durban curry. The UK loves curry, so I focused on creating recipes that are outstanding and can be shared widely.”
At the heart of his cooking is a dedication to quality and authenticity. His Bunny Chows are crafted with 18 carefully selected ingredients.
Greg says the combination is “magical” and what keeps people coming back. One moment stands out, a customer trying his food for the second time broke down in tears, transported back to her childhood and her mother’s cooking.
“She was crying with joy. That moment made all the hard work worthwhile.”
Now based in Brighton, Greg continues to share the tastes of home, running a pub kitchen and catering at events. But despite the hustle, Connor remains his priority. Weekends are for football and family, while Greg teaches his son that hard work, passion, and good values can take you anywhere.
Greg’s story brings a piece of South Africa to a new home.
