Gift of the Givers joins the global movement to send much-needed aid to India; the country is currently in the grips of a tragic second wave.
South Africa (30 April 2021) – India is currently at the mercy of a second Covid-19 wave, with reports saying they are facing a new varient of the virus. Sadly, the hospitals are just not equipped to treat everyone, and their death rate is rising faster than in any other country.
Each day the headlines coming from India are breaking hearts. It is incredibly tragic, but thankfully, countries worldwide are shipping in aid to assist in every way possible.
Gift of the Givers has been a monumental help in South Africa, where the medical system also took strain during the first and second waves. The organisation has supplied PPE and oxygen concentrators to clinics and hospitals in need, they have made over entire wards to cope with the influx of Covid patients, and they have supplied hundreds of thousands of food parcels to people and organisations in need.
Gift of the Givers is South Africa’s largest disaster response Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) in Africa, which provides 3.2 billion rands in aid to over 40 countries and spanning a 28-year-old and counting legacy. The essence of the Gift of the Givers Foundation presence is to bring hope and restore dignity to the most vulnerable.
Now they are joining in and sending aid to India, where it will hopefully be able to make a difference in a tragic situation. The organisation plans to send hospital scrubs and oxygen concentrators. We are so proud that they are stepping up and offering a helping hand.
