Johnson Ncube, a beloved young man with a contagious smile and a heart of gold, now finds himself facing the challenges of a traumatic brain injury and septicaemia.
Johannesburg, South Africa (19 September 2024) – A young man who has an infectious smile and the natural ability to bring laughter and great friendship to whoever crosses his path, is currently fighting for his life in hospital.
Johnson Ncube is a brilliant young man who has touched so many people’s lives and is currently facing a huge knock to his health following a horrible car accident in December 2023.
The Noordheuwel Hoërskool Class of 2023 matriculant had prospects of going to university this year before sustaining a traumatic brain injury and broken femur, leaving him in a coma for two and a half months.
Thankfully he woke up, much to the relief of his many friends and family. With the help of RAF, Johnson got the opportunity to move to a private facility close to home. Hospice Kruinpark also helped Johnson recover and heal for the next few months.
However, Johnson wasn’t out of the woods as he developed a life-threatening infection causing septicaemia and had to be readmitted into public healthcare on 17 August, where he is fighting for his life.
“We are still awaiting the orthopaedic surgeon to decide the way forward. Johnson can however not be operated till the septicaemia has cleared.
“Unfortunately, due to being bedridden again, he has also lost all his muscles that have been building in the hospice facility. It breaks one heart to see him lying, not able to speak nor move around,” shares Johnson’s friend Karen Van der Merwe.
Johnson’s loved ones are rooting for his recovery and hope to raise enough funds to move him to a private healthcare facility where he can get the proper medical attention, treatment and brain injury rehabilitation he needs.
They are pleading with anyone and everyone who can spare whatever they can to help raise funds to move Johnson into private care, where he can start working on getting his life back.
Described as an avid Springboks supporter and a fun, friendly, helpful guy who goes the extra mile for those he loves, Johnson’s colourful personality is sorely missed by his family and friends, who would greatly appreciate your help.
“Johnson is a pillar in so many lives, he is funny, caring, non-judgemental and he is always there when you need him. He is a sweet and loving young man with an enormous sense of humour.
“He had a big future ahead of him and can still have one with your help,” Karen adds.
