Rusty the cat was reunited with his mom after a year apart, thanks to a lady who spotted him on her walk and took him in.
St Francis, South Africa (11 January 2024) – Karin Schnelker noticed a hungry cat while out walking. She befriended him and quickly scooped him up to be able to get him seen by the vet. Once seen, the cat’s family was tracked down, and he was reunited with his mom after being missing for a year.
The St Frances Animal Rescue shared the heartwarming story along with the must-see images of Rusty, giving his mom all the hugs he missed out on in his year-long misadventure.
The St Francis Animal Rescue was founded by a group of volunteers in 2016 who wanted to address the problem of a growing number of animals in need. They started by running a sterilisation drive and getting spaza shops to stock R5 bags of pet food and have grown over the years to make a real difference in St Francis and Sea View.
This is Rusty’s heartwarming story,
“What a wonderful community we live in. Karin Schnelker came across the very hungry kitty while out in a walk.
After posting kitty on WhatsApp and Facebook and much sharing by the community it was discovered that kitty is in fact Rusty… Chantal Shooters cat who went missing OVER A YEAR AGO!He travelled a massive distance from the Oyster Bay Rd back to his old home in Cape St Francis and has now been happily reunited with his family.
Thank you to Karin for caring and sharing, and thanks to a wonderful community who cares enough to help our precious pets.”
It was clear Rusty was very happy to see his mom again. Just look at those cuddles!
