DC Coffee Co is in the business of kindness and recently shared a heartwarming gesture for those who can’t afford a cuppa that gave us many feels:

Pineslopes, South Africa (27 September 2023) — DC Coffee Co, a hidden community gem in Johannesburg, strikes again with acts of kindness. This Jozi coffee shop has a wonderful reputation when it comes to acts for the community, and a recent act of encouragement stands as a testament to this ethos.

Recently, the Jozi coffee shop run by Neil and Samantha Golding reminded people going through difficulties in life that their doors are always open. Even if they can’t afford coffee. Even if they just need a word of encouragement.

“Look up at our 260 birds with encouraging notes from others wrestling through similar challenges and know that THINGS WILL BE OK!” The Goldings shared, before adding that anyone who needs it but can’t afford it, can grab a coffee voucher.

“Your story and your life are more important to us than our turnover, so please don’t fight this alone,” they added.

This follows a long story of empathy from the Goldings, whose shop was set up as a Non-Profit Coffee Shop aiming to channel as many resources as possible back to the community, and hopped onto our radar years ago with their ‘Pay it Forward’ wall.

It comes as no surprise then, that another act of kindness they facilitated was collecting hundreds of kilograms of plastic tops and tags, bound for the Sweethearts Foundation. These collections will translate to a wheelchair for someone in need, and has been an ongoing commitment of the shop among numerous other initiatives—from helping local kids follow their dreams to rallying the troops of kindness so that families get the resources they need after devastations.

No, not every business can (or is willing) to go to these extents. But, where these gems can be found, a lasting impact of difference is brewed.
