A kind law enforcement officer was caught on camera helping an elderly pedestrian cross the street in Sea Point, much to the pride of the suburb!
Sea Point, South Africa (05 January 2025) — In a heartwarming moment for the coastal suburb of Sea Point, a kind law enforcement officer was caught on camera helping an elderly pedestrian!
The everyday hero in question, Officer Webb, is a member of the Security and Enforcement team. Whilst working in Sea Point—an area hugely busy this time of year given the influx of tourists enjoying a seaside summer— the officer noticed an elderly pedestrian in need of a helping hand and responded with exactly that.
Officer Webb kindly offered to give the lady using a walker for mobility something of a ‘police escort’ across the street. This gentle act of good is something that many officers wouldn’t have considered within their job requirements. But not Officer Webb.
The helpful act sets an example for all of us—law enforcement personnel or otherwise— considering how busy many South African suburbs’ roads are at this time of year. Sea Point has already been inundated with scores of cars zooming off to the popular beaches along the Atlantic Seaboard, which can be hugely stressful for any pedestrian, let alone those of us moving a little slower.
Officer Webb’s act was caught on camera via the Sea Point CID control room, much to the pride of his Chief Operations Officer Heather Tager and the larger Sea Point community.
