The Tygerberg Children’s Choir will see local songbirds spread their wings and jet off to an international choir competition at the ‘Singing City’ in the United Kingdom! Have a listen and get excited for them!

Cape Town, South Africa (17 April, 2023) — Later this week, the Tygerberg Children’s Choir will venture off to the ‘Singing City’ in the United Kingdom, but this trip is far more than a tourist adventure to historic choral culture.

Here, the blossoming voices based in the Northern Suburbs will compete against choirs from all around the world at the Hull International Choir Competition; seeing 27 Choirs from 10 nations will battle note-to-note in the East Coast English city.

Austria, Britain, Finland, Greece, Croatia, Lithuania, Turkey and of course South Africa will all have their moment to sparkle before the top choir is crowned.

It’s also a beaming moment for the Tygerberg Children’s Choir as this showdown marks their first international competition since 2014; ushering in a new generation of songbirds to share their voices with the world’s best.

At the battle of beautiful voices, they’ll have the opportunity to defend their title as the 4th best children’s choir in the world per the INTERKULTUR World Rankings.

And, for Africa, they’ll stand firm as the only African and South African choir in the mix, led by Karina Erasmus.

But, since they’re a choir that’s performed for the ears of Kings, Queens, locals and legends alike, we have no doubt they’ll sail through the competition.

Have a Listen!
