Hundreds of messages have filtered into our inbox for Harry Finnemore since he lost his family in a tragic accident; the Drakensberg Boys Choir add their voices to the love coming from South Africa.

South Africa (11 September 2024) – Since the news broke about Harry and his family’s tragic accident, South Africans have been rallying to send Harry messages of love, support and condolences for his loss.

Sarah Corlett shared the devastating story of the Finnemore family — Gareth, Olivia, and their two sons, Garth and Harry. A driver allegedly overtook a truck on a blind rise along a rural road in KwaZulu-Natal, causing a catastrophic accident that involved 13 people. Twelve did not survive, including Gareth, Olivia, and 14-year-old Garth. Miraculously, 12-year-old Harry emerged as the sole survivor.

Since then, the outpouring of love sent from all around the world has left us in tears daily. Good Things Guy has received hundreds of emails from readers wanting to contact Harry after losing his family. We have directed them towards Sarah, who will share them with Harry when he is ready to read them. Sarah has since created a dedicated email account where people can share messages. If you would like to send a message to Harry, you can do so via the email here: messagesforharry@gmail.com

The messages were so heartfelt, with many expressing their own pain for Harry and his loss. Having seen all these emails come in, we are without a doubt that South Africans are truly special humans and that Harry is in good company, surrounded by the love and kind words sent his way!

And then, the email that broke us! The Drakensberg Boys Choir reached out to send Harry their words of support not only in a written email but also using their choir’s harmonies. Placing their emotions in song and creating something so beautiful, we were moved to tears.

Dear Harry,

The Drakensberg’s Boys Choir community would like you to know how deeply sorry we are for the loss of your Mom, Dad and brother. During this incredibly difficult time, we hope that the song we have recorded, especially for you, brings you a small measure of comfort. Though it may feel like you are alone right now, please remember that your family’s love is always with you. They live on in your heart and through the memories you cherish.

Just as our voices come together to create a beautiful sound, so too will your community come together to ensure that you have a life filled with love and success. You are surrounded by many people who love you, and we wanted you to know that we share your sorrow and hope that our message brings you some peace xx.”
