Flooded

Aric Harding was filmed playing his flooded piano while at home collecting his kids toys. A Grammy Nominated musician saw the vid and got him a new piano.

Aric Harding and his family live in Friendswood, a small town south of Houston in Texas. Friendswood was hit by Hurricane Harvey and the family were evacuated.

After a few days Aric returned home to collect some of his kids teddies and games to keep them occupied. While in his home he noticed his piano and decided to sit down and see if it was still working. He sat knees deep in water and played a beautiful melody.

Somebody started filming Aric and when they were done, Aric posted it to his Instagram with an inspirational message about the beauty that would follow the disaster.

“I went back to our street today because as you guys have probably seen the water has come back with a vengeance. I hope this was its high point. I grabbed the kids’ favorite stuffed animals that we had left behind and a couple of games to keep the kids occupied.”

“I think it’s all finally sinking in a little. What we used to have going as a city is gone. I really think God is going to do something completely new here. I am excited to see the new beauty in the suffering.”

Grammy nominated musician Vanessa Carlton, famous for her song ‘A Thousand Miles’ saw the video and decided to help. Vanessa is sponsored by Yamaha and asked if they would be willing to donate a new piano to Aric. The company said yes and Vanessa shared the news with Aric via Twitter.

Vanessa told CNN that music was an essential and so she wanted to provide that to Aric and his family.

“He represents a lot of people down there who are musicians, and as you know a lot of these people don’t have flood insurance, and when they replace their items, they replace their essentials first. Being a musician, music is like oxygen. It is an essential.”

Since posting his video, Aric and his family have started repairs on the water damage in the home and are over the moon about the new piano coming their way. You can see Aric’s moving performance below.
