There was no horsing around when it came to a preschool’s mission to share their snacks with cart horses that a local non-profit looks out for.

Epping, South Africa (20 February 2025) — Small acts of kindness have not been in shortage in South Africa recently! Following schoolchildren making heartwarming, handwritten cards for the elderly and hundreds of hotdogs shared with children in need, a local preschool made a non-profit and many cart horses leap over the moon by sharing surprise snacks with them.

The Cart Horse Protection Association based in Epping are all about improving the welfare of working horses and donkeys. They are a first point-of-call for cases of abuse, and step in to rescue, rehabilitate and re-home these animals too.

In the sweetest showcase of love for the cart horses, Kleine Kloof Early Learning Centre collected any horse’s snacks of choice (carrots and apples) to make their Valentine’s Day a delicious one.

Not forgetting dessert, sugar bites were also made by the ELC and shared with the cart horses that the organisation looks out for, to the delight of many.

All the treats arrived freshly on Valentine’s Day, and rumour has it that the horses haven’t stopped neighing about it since.

“We cannot thank [Kleine Kloof] enough for thinking of us and for being so generous,’ the Cart Horse Protection Association beamed.

“All the cart horses we have been in touch with since Friday are loving the special treats. Thank you so much.”

You can support the non-profit’s work by checking out their socials, making a donation, or if you’re in the market for a horse, peruse their adoption page here.
