The South African Masters Women’s Hockey team is putting the final touches on its preparations for the 2026 World Masters Hockey World Cup in the Netherlands and Belgium, where they’ll proudly wear the green and gold on the international stage.
Leading the side is captain Sue “Susie Q”, whose 26 international caps, infectious enthusiasm and team-first attitude have made her the heartbeat of the squad. Whether she’s driving standards on the field or lifting spirits off it, her commitment to the team is unmistakable.
Behind the scenes, team manager Fanus “Mel” has become the glue holding everything together. From coordinating travel and kit to keeping every bit of tournament administration on track, her calm approach has helped ensure the players can focus on what matters most, which is to play hockey.
On the sidelines, coach Leon has left no stone unturned. From fitness and conditioning to tactical preparation and mental resilience, he’s worked tirelessly to get the squad ready for the challenge ahead. His passion for the game has helped create a close-knit group determined to make South Africa proud.
With months of preparation behind them, the World Cup is now here. The team is ready to take on the world’s best, proving that the love of the game and national pride have no age limit.
