Beneficiaries of the Truth and Hope Foundation are rocking new rackets and bats thanks to a special delivery!

Johannesburg, South Africa (23 January 2026) – A delivery of sports gear has brought a lot of excitement to little athletes at Truth and Hope Foundation in Rabie Ridge.

It all arrived in one go. Tennis rackets, cricket gear, soccer balls, training equipment, even a box of trophies. The drop off was made by Play It Forward, a local non-profit that collects and redistributes gently used sports equipment to communities where access is the biggest barrier to participation.

It is a meaningful donation to receive for organisation that uses sport, recreation, arts and skills development to create structure, confidence and opportunity for young people in the community – work that the Truth and Hope Foundation has been doing for years.

“We cleared out most of our storeroom today to Sydwell at Truth and Hope Foundation RSSJ . We are so grateful to all who have donated, the children at this foundation are going to be over the moon,” shared Play It Forward in a Facebook post.

After the drop-off was made, the foundation’s founder, Sydwell Ramakokovhu, left a thank-you note for the incredible donation. Later shared by Play It Forward, it reflected just how impactful these sports gear donations can be. Sport opens doors for communities.

“I personally as the founder and president I’m emotional thinking about the heart you have and all the people who contributed towards my foundation. I am over the moon and this is doing wonders for kids and the smile after they saw tennis rackets. And cricket equipment and all the soccer and training equipment wow they just were smiling…” shared Sydwell.

More kids can participate properly, train consistently and feel included.

Play It Forward collects unwanted and gently used sports gear in Johannesburg. If you’d like to make a donation, find details here.
