Mombasa, Kenya (23 October 2025) – What a day for Team SA! South Africa’s swimmers delivered an outstanding performance on Day 1 of the Africa Aquatics Junior & Senior Open Water Swimming Championships in Mombasa, showcasing talent and determination to collect as many medals as possible. South Africa’s swim squad dominated the podium across multiple events, leaving fans and fellow competitors in awe.
The 5km events set the tone for an incredible day. In the 14–15 age group, Caitlin Evans earned a silver medal, while Sienna Gous claimed gold. The 16 to 17-year-old category saw Kiara Banks take silver, highlighting the strength and depth of South Africa’s youth swimmers.
Senior and youth categories continued the impressive streak. Kirsty Andros secured Youth Gold, with Cassidey Doubell taking Youth Bronze. Senior swimmers were equally strong, with Callan Lotter winning Gold and Amica de Jager following closely with Silver. Owen Joubert and Kellen Jones also made their mark in the 5km events, collecting Bronze and Silver medals respectively.
The 3km sprint events provided more highlights, with Callan Lotter grabbing gold and Amica de Jager adding silver. Connor Albertyn showcased his sprinting skill with a bronze in the men’s event, further cementing Team SA’s dominance across both junior and senior levels.
