It’s a chance to boost tourism and, by extension, the economy in South Africa, so let’s keep Cape Town in the spotlight!

Cape Town (10 October 2025) – The Mother City has been nominated for yet another world title, this time in Travel + Leisure India & South Asia’s Best Awards 2025. She’s up for ‘Best International City’ and now it’s completely up to voters to help her take the crown.

The awards are audience-led, which means it’s travellers and locals who get to decide the winners, and not a panel of judges.

Cape Town Tourism’s Chief Marketing Officer, Briony Brookes, leans into why it’ll be more than just another win for the world’s best city, and why it’s worth voting for.

“Cape Town is back in the global spotlight, and it’s time to make some noise! The awards recognise places that inspire discovery and connection, and Cape Town’s nomination once again proves that our city’s beauty, energy, and international appeal are unmatched. Now it’s up to Capetonians and everyone who loves the city to help take Cape Town straight to the top.”

It won’t be easy. Cape Town is up against Tokyo, Lisbon, San Francisco, Perth and more. But there’s no place like home. This isn’t the Mother City’s first rodeo, and she’s no stranger to the winner’s circle.

Cape Town has already been crowned Best City in the World (multiple times), named one of the most LGBTQ-friendly cities on the planet, celebrated for having three restaurants ranked among the world’s best, and even recognised as one of the most beautiful cruise ports.

Every time Cape Town takes home an international title, it’s another spotlight on South Africa as a whole. It boosts tourism and brings visitors from around the world who want to experience what we often take for granted – our mountains, our oceans, our culture, and our people. When our cities receive good publicity, it causes a knock-on effect where tourism and the economy get a good boost too.

So many people benefit when the world chooses South Africa.

So let’s keep Cape Town’s winning streak alive. Voting is open for the next two months, and it takes just a moment to cast your vote. Do so by following this link.

  1. Please help us get BTS to perform in Cape Town specifically as initially pitched to kfm by big concerts ceo. It is now being taken over by jhb who insist they are better city to have them perform in. Cape Town being the best touristy city in SA with benefit immensely, economically and tourist industriy wise from a performance from them as they have a massive amount of fans, internationally, that fly out to the cities and countries they perform at. Visits from said fans would be extended once they discover how beautiful our city is (as the Almighty willed). Please email me if it’s something you would like to find out more about. We need all the votes on toorly as possible to get back in the lead to get them here. They most likely going to return here if, what would be thier first time performing in Africa, is done so in Cape Town .
