Johannesburg, South Africa (22 June 2026) – “Andile the Calculator” is only four years old, but he’s already doing maths that leaves many adults reaching for a calculator. The young South African has become an internet sensation, capturing hearts across the country with his remarkable number skills and the beautiful bond he shares with his father.
Andile Mbambo has taken social media by storm thanks to videos showcasing his ability to solve mathematical problems with incredible speed and accuracy. His TikTok (managed by his dad) has already garnered 135,000 followers! And one of his videos has racked up 2,5 million views!

Known as Andile the Calculator, he was recently interviewed on Newzroom Africa, where viewers got a closer look at the youngster who is amazing South Africans with one equation at a time.
During the interview, Andile’s father, Xolani Mbambo, explained how their journey began. The videos often feature Xolani asking his son to work out complex calculations, with Andile confidently answering in seconds. But it’s the father-son connection that is warming hearts across South Africa. Their interactions are filled with encouragement, laughter and pride, creating content that is as encouraging as it is impressive.
As Newzroom Africa described it, “His father, Xolani Mbambo, asks his son to compute complex numbers. The two have stolen the hearts of social media users with their fun father-son bond. They speak to Nompumelelo Ngubeni.”
