The wheels are turning at the Sandton SPCA! One generous family has helped put another vehicle on the road for animal welfare, giving inspectors more power to answer calls for help.
Johannesburg, South Africa (12 June 2026) – Another incredible show of support for the heroes at the Sandton SPCA!
Thanks to the committed Sandton SPCA inspectorate, vulnerable animals in the metro area and surrounds have heroes in their corner. The team often responds to reports of neglect, collects injured animals, investigates cruelty cases, assists communities, and ensures every animal in need is cared for.
Most of that work happens on the road. For years, inspectors have carried out those important duties in old, unreliable vehicles. Now, thanks to an extraordinary act of generosity, they have new wheels to safely reach every call-out received.
The Sandton SPCA has officially welcomed a fourth brand-new Isuzu rescue vehicle to its inspectorate fleet, made possible through the support of the Roy McAlpine Charitable Foundation.
The vehicle arrives just weeks after the organisation celebrated the delivery of three new Isuzu D-Max bakkies, replacing the unreliable rides that inspectors had used for years. Together, the growing fleet of four represents a meaningful investment in the future of animal welfare across Sandton and beyond.
The new vehicle arrives as a generous act of kindness from one incredible philanthropic family! After reading about the SPCA’s need for reliable rescue vehicles in the Sandton Chronicle, Trustee Anne McAlpine and her family decided to step in and help.
“Supporting the SPCA was an easy decision. The SPCA plays such a vital role in our society, and we are delighted to partner with them in providing a vehicle that respects the work they do.” said Anne, as per the SPCA.
The Roy McAlpine Charitable Foundation, which supports health and social initiatives across South Africa while honouring the philanthropic legacy of Roy McAlpine, has helped ensure that more animals will be reached, rescued and given a chance at a better life.
The Sandton SPCA expressed its heartfelt gratitude to Anne McAlpine, her family and the Roy McAlpine Charitable Foundation for helping turn a need into a reality.
