In a fun festive advert, gnomes unite to save the day for two employees who desperately need a hand (or many, at that) to get their store ready for Christmas shoppers!

Global (27 November 2024) — You’ve heard of woodland creatures making last-minute magic happen for Snow White. But what about gnomes uniting to save humble employees just in time for Christmas shopping?

In Asda’s new Christmas advert, Gnomes take centre stage in all weird, wonderful and creative ways!

When all the roads leading to the shopping outlet are closed due to icy weather, there’s only one, tiny team to call on. When duty calls, the gnomes (or ‘gnomies’) come alive; brimming with puns, energy and teamwork to pull the shop together just in time for morning.

On the surface, it’s a fun advert that brings the creatures usually reserved for select parts of our gardens to the forefront with plenty of puns and giggle-worthy jokes to boast. But, on a deeper level, it’s a reminder of a theme we’ve seen throughout this year’s festive advert displays: you can’t go at it alone.

As it was with Dawn French and Fairy and Mrs Claus’s troop of glamorous elves, magic happens when people (and creatures) work together.

We loved the gnome inclusivity the Asda ad showcased. From traditional “gnomies” to gnomes of different ages, nationalities, career-choices and abilities; the ad solidifies beautifully that tremendous teamwork can and does happen not despite our differences, but because of them.
