This weekend’s Rugby Sevens Final in Cape Town saw an unfortunate loss for the defending champs, South Africa. However, despite the loss, the stadium came out with one of the most incredible #MannequinChallenge videos South Africa and the world has seen.

The Mannequin Challenge is a viral Internet video trend where people remain frozen in action like mannequins while a video is recorded, usually with an awesome song playing in the background.

The hashtag #MannequinChallenge was used for popular social media platforms such as Twitter and Instagram.

It is believed that the phenomenon was started by students in Jacksonville, Florida on October 12, 2016. The initial posting has inspired works by other groups, especially professional athletes and sports teams that have posted increasingly complex and elaborate videos.

We’ve already featured the Camps Bay video which saw over 200 people partake in the challenge, making us all more-than ready for summer and the Mercedes Benz video which takes the cake in the corporate division.

Now, South African sports fans have left everyone else in the dust, with their awesome #MannequinChallenge video.

Everyone from the broadcasters, to the players as well as the 55 000 capacity crowd struck a pose, and held it – to create an incredibly impressive video.

Despite the disappointing loss for the Blitzbokke, the video truly showcased the kind of gees South African’s really have. A truly, #ProudlySouthAfrican moment.
