Takalani Sesame is up for a Webby Award thanks to its Bond Through Play campaign that encouraged play with guardians as an essential part of a child’s development, and we can all help the South African team win:

Global (11 April 2025) — In exciting news from the world of local television and creativity on the web, Takalani Sesame is up for a Webby Award—AKA, the awards that celebrate the very best of the internet.

It’s the 29th annual Webby Awards, and the Sesame Workshop South Africa team are thrilled to have been nominated, especially because thousands of projects were submitted from creative teams all over the world. Their claim to the Webby’s is for their Social Media campaign, Bond Through Play—a socially impactful effort.

Because play is a crucial aspect of a child’s development that fosters cognitive, physical, social, and emotional growth, the effort honed in on parental involvement here, especially when it comes to fathers.

Through the Bond Through Play Campaign, the well-loved South African brand encouraged fathers and father figures to connect with kids by means of play, to great success.

And, after the initial launch in August last year, some of South Africa’s favourite dads even got on board to spread the word.

Now, Takalani Sesame is proudly nominated under the Video & Film—General Video & Film, Kids & Family section of the Webby Awards. As this falls under the Webby’s People’s Voice umbrella, we can all vote for the South African team to take the win!

You can visit the voting page here, and cast your vote.
