An Irish comedian, Garron Noone, has gone and hilariously reminded the world on social media this week that the South African accent is not just lekker, but it is Top 2 of the sexiest in the world, too!
Dublin, Ireland (07 May 2025) – With so many different dialects and accents to pick up on, the South African Afrikaans accent has previously been named the second sexiest in the world. Now, the accent is back on the list!
The initial win in 2019 was, according to a Big 7 Media survey, which shared all kinds of cool lists to inspire travellers to broaden their horizons and explore more that the world has to offer.
Hilariously reminding us of this golden international acclaim was funny Irish man Garron Noone, who shared a video on his Instagram this week poking fun at the top 50 Sexiest Accents in the World list in which his country took third place, just behind Mzansi, saying:
“We’re up there, of course we’re f* charmers. We’re right behind the Kiwis and the South Africans. I’m not gonna say anything, but clearly this is rigged,” he jokes.
Garron goes on to throw jabs at the English accent, claiming the language variation was listed multiple times – i.e. Queens English, Yorkshire, Geordie and Scouse– and still didn’t make the higher end of the sexy list.
“Ireland should also have multiple entries, we have the most accents of any country in the world,” he disputes.

Well, Garron may have a bone to pick with whoever compiled the list for his own “Irish reasons”, but the results speak for themselves, and even with a single entry, South Africa made the Top 2 cut. Even Trevor Noah hilariously agreed with the results, and we’d like to believe that says a lot, haha.
