Glasgow, Scotland (29 July 2026) – South Africa’s swimmers continue to steal the spotlight at the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, delivering another impressive medal haul as Team SA enjoyed yet another successful day across the pool, netball court and athletics track.

Swimming: Team SA Makes Another Splash
The swimming team once again led the country’s medal charge, adding gold and multiple silver medals to South Africa’s growing tally.
Lara van Niekerk claimed gold with another standout performance, while Aimee Canny continued her remarkable Games by securing her second silver medal of the competition.
There were also silver medals for Danika Vyncke and Nathan Hendricks, adding to Team SA’s growing success in the pool.
The mixed 4x100m medley relay team also impressed, powering to silver while setting new African and Commonwealth Games records in the process.
Pieter Coetzé continued his sensational campaign by storming into the men’s 100m backstroke final as the fastest qualifier. His time of 52.20 seconds not only topped the heats but also set a new Commonwealth Games record, underlining his status as one of the stars of the competition.
