Security guards from 24/7 Security recently learned how to sign “Go Bokke” and are encouraging others to do the same; watch them show you how.

South Africa (08 October 2023) – Last week in the lead-up to the Springbok game, we shared how the South African Deaf Rugby Association had started sharing all the sign language signs inspired by the Rugby World Cup. One of the ones shared was “Go Bokke” and two security guards picked up the lesson, learned the sign and started sharing it with others.

The South African Deaf Rugby Association doesn’t only promote the sport of deaf rugby but also advocates for inclusion in South Africa. To help South Africans embrace the new and 12th official language, SA Deaf Rugby has been sharing a daily sign, to teach SA about all things South African Sign Language (SASL) and rugby!

The association has been sharing everything from terms within rugby to the names of the Springboks. Think terms like “Go Bokke”, “Referee”, “Line Out”, “TMO” to name a few.

“Go Bokke” has been spreading and the guys at 24/7 Security picked it up. Armed Reaction Officers Gordon Serai and Themba Makobe learned how to sign “Go Bokke” for the South Africa v. Tonga game.

“Security is tough industry, especially in South Africa, but our Officers never hesitate to go the extra mile to help people. They are the heart of the company!”

With the Springboks on a little break, now is the perfect time to get practising! We can all add the “Go Bokke” sign to our growing knowledge and use of SASL. Challenge accepted!
